History of KCC Christian Hospital:

It is to be clearly noted that “Christian Hospital, Imphal” has been established not by choice, but compelled by the prevailing situation as outlined below:

The alarming outbreak of diseases such as AIDs, HIV, etc., caused by drug trafficking from the Triangle, many have died due to having no means of care.

Poverty caused by the over 35 insurgent groups freely operating in the region causing the civilian population to earn their daily living, but delivered to poverty, unable to pay the treatment costs of their ailments.

People living in remote areas denied access to medical facilities when they got sick, have to be cared for.  When epidemic, such as malaria, Typhoid, Cholera break out, they die like chickens, and therefore they badly need medical care.

Some patients needing modern technological machines, which are not yet available in the city, and nearby, have to travel to big cities like Delhi, Bombay and Calcutta just to diagnose their ailments.  The travel cost is far beyond their affordable means.  Therefore, such machines are needed to be installed at this “Christian Hospital, Imphal” for such patient needs.

In circumstances stated above, and many more to come, the Kuki Christian Church has established the “Christian Hospital, Imphal” to meet some of this emergent needs by the help of well wishers in India and foreign countries, like America.  We are grateful to the Nayak Foundation and FAME in the United States for helping to build the 110’x40’ hospital building up to the 2nd floor.  And, also to the Nayak Foundation for providing funding for the O.T. machines.

Current emergent needs:

The KCC “Christian Hospital, Imhal” is urgently in need of:

$5,000.00 US per month effective January 2004 to keep the Hospital smoothly running.  This amount has been provided by the Nayak Foundation and FAME up to December 2006, at which time their commitment has been completed. This support is need until the Hospital can stand by itself.

$20,000.00 US is need to replace the old ambulance vehicle, which has been over used and now becomes almost unreliable to depend upon.

KCC “Christian Hospital, Imphal” has only 20 beds.  But the number of patients increases daily.  Therefore one more floor, which would be the 3rd floor needs to be built soon to accommodate the incoming patients.  The last estimate for the 3rd floor $60,000.00 US.  Once the funds are secured, the floor can be built in 6 months.

Many more needs are to come as the hospital grows.  The hospital needs isolation rooms, and separate dorms for male and female.
